Description

The Illinois Campus Cluster is a campus-wide resource that provides high-performance computing and data storage to support research across numerous disciplines, from astronomy and biology to chemistry and engineering. The Campus Cluster allows individuals, research teams, and campus units to invest in compute nodes and storage resources, offering guaranteed access to their specific investments. Additionally, surplus resources are available for use by others, maximizing computing capacity and cost-efficiency. By pooling resources, the Campus Cluster reduces overhead, shortens startup times, and frees up physical space, contributing to a reduced campus carbon footprint. For those with sporadic or short-term needs, compute time and storage space can also be purchased on demand.

Illinois Computes has made an investment in the Campus Cluster of both CPUs and GPUs, allowing it to provide researchers with some amount of no-cost access.

Base Amount of Resources Accessible at No Cost
