About Us
What is Illinois Computes?
Illinois Computes is a combined five-year, $50 million commitment from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and the University of Illinois System that funds NCSA to provide at no cost computing, storage, and other technology resources, alongside consulting expertise, to researchers across campus and the system.
Illinois Computes supports all disciplines and domains and is committed to meeting researchers where they are, regardless of whether they are already experts at using research computing technologies or are completely new to the idea of using any technology to advance their research.
Illinois Computes is currently funded for five years (through June 2027 for the campus commitment and June 2028 for the system commitment) and has a goal to become an established and permanent part of ensuring all University of Illinois researchers are able to leverage research computing resources and expertise.

Governance
Urbana-Champaign Campus Investment Governance
The Urbana-Champaign campus Illinois Computes Advisory Committee is responsible for helping shape and guide the use of the Illinois Computes’ investment to ensure it is providing the support and resources needed by the campus research community.
University of Illinois System Investment Governance
The University of Illinois System Research Computing Advisory Committee (UI-SRCAC) provides guidance on identifying the best use of funds to support varying needs across each campus. The committee determines resource allocations to member-represented units.
We're aiming to remove barriers to accessing our growing research computing cyberinfrastructure and world-class staff to provide all Illinois researchers access to new tools that will further their innovative work.
